Why Financial Education is a Worthwhile Investment

Grant Conness and A. Montgomery Costa, Managing Directors and Co-Founders of Global Wealth Management, Publish a New Article Discussing Why Financial Education is a Worthwhile Investment

Fort Lauderdale, FL– April 11, 2018  Grant Conness and A. Montgomery Costa, Co-Founders of Global Wealth Management, a Fort Lauderdale-based financial planning firm, recently published an article on their website entitled “Why Financial Education Might Be Your Best Investment.”

Despite its importance in life, financial education isn’t something that’s often taught as part of general education in school. In fact, as Conness and Costa report in their article, you can even graduate from high school and sometimes college without learning much about personal finance or investing. Skilled professionals with expertise in a particular trade, such as doctors or attorneys, can even find themselves as business owners without any specific financial foundation.

Specifically, they say, “Financial literacy is an important skill for pretty much anyone to have, especially when building and enjoying financial independence is a goal.” They go on to add, “Yet, it’s not uncommon that one might have to take it upon themselves to get that education.”

This being the case, the duo goes on to give specific reasons why increasing your financial knowledge makes sense.

One of these reasons is that you need to know when financial advice you get throughout your life is wise—and when it’s not. They explain, “Whether it’s a well-meaning relative or a good-intentioned co-worker, you will likely frequently encounter people throughout life who want to tell you what you should do with your finances. Yet, often these people have no more real ‘knowledge’ or experience than the average person.”

Other reasons they outline include knowing what to do when your finances don’t go as planned or when delegating responsibility isn’t the best idea.
